Day 1 Arrival at Paro Airport, Bhutan – Elevation 2280m
Bhutan Travel Packages welcome you to the exotic kingdom of Bhutan known as Druk Yul-the Land of the Thunder Dragon. You will drive to your assigned hotel in Paro for lunch and a post lunch siesta. In evening you can visit the local market and get used to the place and the altitude.
Day 2 Paro
After an early breakfast your first stop on your Bhutan travel Package, a hike Taksang Monastery
Taksang Monastery: The most cherished and holy place to visit in Bhutan is the famous Taktsang Monastery or Tiger's Nest. The monastery was built in the 17th century to celebrate Guru Rinpoche. The monastery is perched on granite rock face almost a kilometre above the valley floor. This is a must visit site. Any Bhutan tour is incomplete without visiting the Tiger's Lair. Paro Dzong: or the Ringpung Dzong was built in mid-17th century to protect Bhutan from invading Tibetan armies.
Day 3 Thimpu Bhutan
After breakfast you will drive to Thimpu the national capital of Bhutan. You travel in Bhutan Semtokha Dzong: This is the oldest fortress in Bhutan. Heritage Museum: this is where exhibition of artefacts used in rural household are on display. The School of 13 arts. Bhutan Institute of Traditional Medicine. Dinner and stay at a hotel in Thimpu.
Day 4 Thimpu Bhutan
Another day in the bustling capital city of Bhutan. Thimpu presents a number of places for a traveller in Bhutan to visit.
Day 5 Thimpu to Punakha- Elevation 1200 meters
After an early breakfast you would be driven to Punakha via Dochu-La pass 3,150 meters elevation. Dochu-La pass: This is the first mountain pass in western region of Bhutan, and see the 108 Druk Wangyal Chorten situated on the top of the pass, built by the present Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk in celebration of victory of Bhutanese forces against militant group in recent past and to liberate the souls of the souls lost. The design is inspired from Buddhist scriptures. On a clear day one can enjoy a panorama of the Himalayan mountain range. We will also have lunch en route to Punakha. Punakha Dzong: the second oldest fortress of Bhutan. It was built in 1637 and remains the winter home of the clergy, headed by the chief Abbott, the Je Khenpo. It is bewildering example of Bhutanese architecture. It looks like sitting in fork of two rivers. The fortress was destroyed by fire and glacial floods but has been carefully restored to its medieval glory. It is a commendable example of Bhutanese craftsmanship. Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten(Stupa): We take a short drive up the valley and reach these splendid Stupas. It is one of three such Stupas in the world, were constructed under the guidance of the third Queen Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk. It was constructed in 1992.
Day 6 Punakha - Wangduephodrang Valley – Gangtey
As one further drives to south of Punakha, one reaches to the valley of Wangduephodrang at the elevation of 1,350m. It is an old town of a narrow street with single storied shops. There is plan to replace it by a brand new town carried out of terraced rice fields. Gangtey Nature Trail, starts from the mani stone wall to the north of the Gangtey Gonpa and ends in Khewa Lhakhang. [ Wangduephodrang Dzong(Fortress). It is on a steep ridge overlooking the highway fork to the east and south of the country. Gangtery Gompu Monastery: This Monastery was established in 1631. The monastery is one of the main seats of the religious tradition based on Pema Lingpa's revelations and also one of the main of two main centers of Nyingmapa school of Buddhism in Bhutan.
Day 7Gangtey – Bumthang
Bumthang: The country's spiritual heart.
Zakar Dzong: Jakar is situated in the spacious Chumkhar or Choekor Valley surrounded by tree covered mountains. It is considered as one of the most beautiful in all Bhutan and it is commonly referred to as "Little Switzerland"*. Jakar is known as stronghold of Vajrayan Buddhism, especially the Nyingma tradition. You would also ve visiting Kurjey Lhakhang and Jampey Lkhang.
Day 8 Bumthang – Paro
Post breakfast we will leave for Paro a 6 to 7 hour drive from Bumthang We will have a light traditional lunch at a restaurant at Wangduephodrang and start for Paro our point of origin into Bhutan. On arrival into Paro you will be taken to the local market A good night sleep after a sumptuous dinner at a luxury hotel in Paro
Day 9 Paro
National Museum of Bhutan: Paro has the famous National Museum situated in a round fortress the Ta Dzong. The Royal Government of Bhutan in 1968 with the aim to showcase countries rich cultural heritage inaugurated this museum. It showcases artefacts dating back to 2000 B.C, and it has in all 13 galleries. Kyichu Lhakhang: This is one of the oldest temple in Bhutan built around the 7th century and was visited by Guru Rinpoche who later went on to establish the Taktsang Monastery This is your last evening in Bhutan so post lunch we suggest do what you please.
Day 10 Departure
Today your fairyland holiday of Leisure Bhutan Travel Package has come to an end. After an early breakfast you will escorted back to the Paro International Airport, to catch flight to your next destination.
